Before being acquired in 1924 by José Ribeiro Conceição, the building now known as the Ribeiro Conceição Theatre was originally the Hospital of Misericórdia, later serving as a military barracks.
After remaining closed for nearly 20 years, the theatre was finally restored and reinforced by the Lamego City Council, with renovation works completed in 2008.
Today, the Ribeiro Conceição Theatre functions as both the cinema of the city of Lamego and a stage for professional and amateur performances across all artistic disciplines.
